Date Night Gone Perfect: 5 Simple, Cheap Dates

As couples we sometimes think that we have to do the most we can afford for date night to be special. However, that is highly wrong. Some of us are working class, lower class citizens that can’t just drop $300-$400 on a date because it looks better. Remember that LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING!!! I have heard more than once that the more expensive dates are sometimes not very intimate and the food or activities aren’t worth the money. So then HOW the hell do you have a great, intimate, classy, fun date without forking out tons of money????

Well my husband actually did just that when we were dating. He was actually the best I had ever seen at creating the perfect date for literally twenty dollars. You are probably thinking, ‘HOW THE HELL DID HE MANAGE THAT FOR A WOMAN?’, ‘HOW THE HELL DID A WOMAN AGREE TO A CHEAP DATE LIKE THAT?’ Well for one, you would be surprised at how pleased us women can be with the smaller details; and for two, maintaining simple stereotypes like that will actually never get you a date with a man or woman. So what are these perfect cheap dates I am talking about? Keep reading to see these 5 perfectly simple dates my husband did for me, that could help you arrange your next simple, cheap and perfectly amazing date.

  • FIRST DATE. First date me and my husband ever went on was to a pub and grill called Holy Cow and it wasn’t the fanciest place to have our first date. However, I gave it a go. I mean hell on Friday nights it was $2 mixed drinks and $1 wells- YOU CAN’T BEAT THAT!!! The music was great… Old rock played as we sat and got to know one another. We shared a small order of cheese sticks while we had a few drinks. There was hardly anyone present, which made it that more surprising that it was a pub. But while we chatted and got to know each other, we played around of pool. I of course got my ass kicked because I am not good at aiming. It was fun and nice having a chill place to have drinks and actually be able to talk without yelling over music. Also, to my curiosity he only paid around 30.00 once all was said and done for drinks, food, pool, and tip. HOW AMAZING??? Loved it.
  • NATURE DATE. Another date my husband took me own consisted of a backpack cooler with a bottle of wine, wine glasses, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, 2 small snack size bags of chips, bottled water, small blanket, and napkins. He proceeded to tell me to trust him on our drive to a place called Spruce Mountain. It wasn’t a very warm day but it wasn’t really cold either; it was a perfect day to be honest. As we arrived at our destination it was a small hiking trail on Spruce Mountain located about 25 minutes north of where we were located. We hiked around and up the mountain for about an hour or so before we found the perfect spot to have a picnic. He set everything up and poured our glasses of wine and we chatted and drank wine. Ate delicious sandwiches that we didn’t even have to buy…. CAME RIGHT FROM THE KITCHEN!!!! Whoop! As we sat there and talked of life and getting to know one another, we also finished the lunch date and continued hiking such a beautiful area. I will say it was definitely a wonderful date. Especially seeing as all we had to buy was wine and gas to get to the location. Well he did… He had it all planned.
  • DANCE DATE. Furthermore, one date I remember specifically was one I actually admired because he took time to cook and take me out dancing all in the same night for only 20.00!!! yeah I said that! A few days before the date, he told me to be at his house by 6:00pm and no earlier. Kind of weird hearing a man have a set time for a date and a woman can’t arrive early. I mean but when do we EVER arrive early?? (haha) It is our duty to arrive late…(you can’t rush perfection) Moreover, I arrived at his house that Friday evening at 6:15pm to be exact. He had a table set with the most beautiful flowers he bought for 5.00 because he left the price tag on it and I found it. (haha) But of course I wouldn’t tell him that at the time. He had cooked this beautifully displayed chicken stir fry with a lot of colorful vegetables and garlic bread. He asked me to sit after grabbing my coat and purse, then he poured us this delicious pink moscato and we proceeded to dinner. After diner finished, he said he had one more surprise for me. He stated that since I love line dancing so much, that’s exactly what we were going to do. We proceeded to Copperhead Bar and lined danced the night away with entry fee of 10.00 together. It was by far a great night with such a great man. You may be asking well what about the other $5.00…. hahaha well he bought an Uber home from the bar. We had to get home safely. (haha)

  • MOONSHINE DATE. Continually, he also planned a date that was so simple, I almost didn’t believe the price he spent. He asked if I wanted to take a lunch date this go round. I of course said yes like I always do and met him at his place at around noon. He had breakfast made. He had bird in cage and bacon made with milk!!! Can you say DELICIOUS!!! After we ate he grabbed a deck of cards and told me to get in the car. I was confused at the fact he grabbed cards and wouldn’t tell me where we were going other than it was a hole in the wall.  After about a ten minute drive, we arrive at the hole in the wall spot called “300 Days of Shine.” It was this quaint little moonshine bar that literally had 3 tables. He told the waiter/bartender that we both wanted a flight of the highest concentrate, or the moonshine listed as Colorado Honey, Apple Pie, Sugar Moon, and Centennial Wheat. By the way, each flight was $10.00 a piece and we both got to enjoy Colorado made moonshine. We got just what we asked for and stayed there playing cards and drinking shots of moonshine for a few hours. It was a fun-filled competitive date.
  • COMPETITIVE DATE. Lastly, the final date that was considered simple, sweet, and cheap was the time he took me to a mom and pop sports bar and grill restaurant in Old Colorado City. It was called Mother Muff’s and it was by far one of the best restaurants in Colorado Springs area. After a long day of hiking Red Canyon for hours, we decided to get lunch before heading back home. He stated as we were leaving the park that he had this awesome place to take me. As always I was eager to see what this date would entail other than hiking up and down mountains. We had finally arrived at Mother Muff’s and it looked like your average downtown restaurant until we walked in. It reminded me of a 1800’s rustic feel with pin ups on the walls, major rock bands and bluegrass bands albums on the walls, and awesome pictures plastered into the tables. Pool tables and a wrap around bar lined the entire back room of the restaurant and there were dart boards and many other games on display; along with a jukebox that had only some of the best classics. We sat down in the back room at the bottom where a pool table was located at this high top table. I remember him ordering their beer of the day and I ordered dr. Pepper as always, and for food he ordered their wings and I ordered the smothered mother.  As we waited for food we played pool and chatted about what was next for an adventure. Then about 20 minutes later the food arrived and let me just say, “holy crap that was the best burger!” I literally couldn’t finish half the burger.. it was a 1/2 pound patty on buns with cheese, fries, chili, guacamole, onions, and much more. Furthermore, my husband’s wings were just as good. They had a perfect buffalo hot sauce tangy taste. The perfect kick you want in a wing if you aren’t into really hot stuff. After eating, we got the ticket and to my surprise it was a total of 25.00 for our meal and drinks. I think after tip and pool games we played it was a total of $35.00. So needless to say, cheap fun date. Hiked and got great American food.

So as you can see, all it takes is some thought and effort. If you want the least effort then you will pay out the pocket for others to do it for you. But do not forget that most women like the simpler, more thought out plans over the  on the spot here’s the money for what you want type dates. It’s the thought you put into a date from listening to us in conversations and getting to know us. We can tell if you aren’t listening or have never listened…. WHO’S WITH ME???

Lastly, being patient and trusting that your significant other will surprise you and give you more than you expected. I mean, yes it is nice to fine dine but most of the time a nice, simple date can go along way. More intimate dates are normally because someone thought out how to make it that way. So next time you plan a date try for something cheaper than the last and see what type of conversations you find yourself having with that person; you could find things out about them you didn’t know.
